Fast & Furious 7 – Fun Facts & Trivia

Furious 7: Fun Facts & Trivia You Need To Know

With the release of the next installment of “The Fast and the Furious” franchise quickly approaching, fans are anxiously waiting until April when they can see Furious 7. The film is the latest in a long line of heart-pumping action flicks where the stars and cars both play leading roles. While you wait, you can whet your appetite with these fun facts.

Denzel Washington turned the film down.

It’s rumored that Denzel Washington was originally asked to take part in the flick, but the Academy Award winning actor declined the role. Instead he was replaced with Kurt Russell who reportedly plays the role of Brian O’Conner’s father figure. Some speculation paints him as Dominic Toretto’s father figure instead.

Two actors from The Expendables are coming on board.

If you were a fan of “The Expendables” trilogy, then you might be excited to hear that Jason Statham and Ronda Rousey are both going to be in Furious 7. Statham, who is know for his huge action roles in “The Transporter” trilogy, The Italian Job, and The Expendables, will play the role of Deckard Shaw, the lead antagonist who seeks revenge for his brother’s death. Ronda Rousey, a leader in the predominantly male-driven mixed martial arts arena, will also appear in the flick.

Furious 7 is the sequel to The Fast and the Furious: Tokyo Drift.

According to the storyline, the franchise’s fourth, fifth, and sixth releases were actually prequels to The Fast and the Furious: Tokyo Drift. The storyline for Furious 7 reportedly picks up after “Tokyo Drift” and continues the storyline.

Singer Iggy Azalea will have a cameo appearance.

The Australian Grammy Award nominee will appear in Furious 7. Interestingly, Iggy Azalea has a song titled “Black Widow” which features Rita Ora, who appeared in Fast & Furious 6.

Vin Diesel’s daughter already owns a car.

Think back to the original film from 2001. Remember the gorgeous red 1970 Chevy Chevelle SS454 coupe that Dom drives into the sunset at the end of the film? Remember how it later reappeared in Fast & Furious in 2009? Vin Diesel gave it to his (at the time) infant daughter. Multiple versions of the car exist and Hania Riley Vincent can proudly say she owns one of them. Her dad gifted it to her because she was born when Fast & Furious was in production.

Before Fast & Furious 6 was released, Furious 7 was announced.

The accelerated schedule forced director Justin Lin, who had been with the franchise since “Tokyo Drift,” out because he was worried that it would affect post-production for the sixth installment. Instead, Universal Studios recruited James Wan, a major director in the horror film industry who had been looking to break away from the barricades of his genre.
