Jane Levy (“Suburgatory,” Evil Dead) is set to star in the action thriller Bushwick. The film tells the story of twenty-year-old Lucy (Levy), who emerges from a Brooklyn subway to find her neighborhood under attack. Lucy decides to cross the treacherous five blocks of Bushwick – littered with looters, local militias, the invading forces, and one crazy cousin – in order to get home and be reunited with her grandmother.
Bushwick will be directed by Cary Murnion and Jonathan Milott (Cooties) and was written by Nick Damici (Cold in July) and Graham Reznik. The film will be produced by Nate Bolotin of XYZ Films and Adam Folk of Bullet Pictures. It is scheduled to go into production in New York in early summer, with WME Global co-repping U.S. sales with XYZ.
“We are thrilled to finally be able to bring Cary and Jon’s vision to life,” says Bolotin. “Their creative instincts are spot on and Jane is absolutely perfect for the role.”
“Cary and Jon are extremely talented and creative directors and came up with an amazing concept with ‘Bushwick,'” adds Folk. “I’m thrilled to be working with XYZ to make it into an even more amazing movie.”
“We have been passionately developing this movie for six years,” say Murnion and Milott. “At its core, the film is a very simple story about a relationship, but there are some larger themes that we are addressing as well. Jane is such a tremendous actress; we’ve been a fan of her for years. She is fearless and brings depth and nuance to the characters she plays. We are extremely lucky to have her on board.”
Levy will next be seen in Paramount’s Monster Trucks, hitting theaters this December 2015. She is represented by Burstein Co, WME, and law firm Sloane, Offer, Weber and Dern. Murnion and Milott are represented by Verve and managed by PYE.
