Hans Zimmer has a long history of providing scores for superhero movies, and he’s about to extend it to another film in 2016’s Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice. Speaking with MTV, Zimmer revealed that he’s not yet begun work on that score.
“I’ve got a couple of ideas,” Zimmer said about the general score.
When asked if he’d be writing individual themes for all of the different heroes in the film, he replied: “I’m trying, I’ll put it that way. We’re in early days. But yes, of course, ideally that’s what you want to do.”
The subject of whether Zimmer is aware if he’ll score anymore DC movies also came up, though Zimmer says it’s too early for that. “Look, the studio is going to hedge its bet, if I ruin this one…. And at the same time you have to remember I come from ten years of doing Batman, so it’s really important to me not to betray the work we did with Chris.”
As previously reported, Zimmer is collaborating with artist Junkie XL for the score of “Dawn of Justice,” with Zimmer set to score the Superman music and Junkie XL scoring the Batman sections. The other heroes set to appear in the film include Gal Gadot as Wonder Woman, Ray Fisher as Cyborg, and Jason Momoa as Aquaman.
Starring Henry Cavill, Ben Affleck, Amy Adams, Laurence Fishburne, Diane Lane, Jesse Eisenberg, Jeremy Irons, Jena Malone, Holly Hunter and Scoot McNairy, Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice hits theaters on March 25, 2016.
