Chris Pratt Not Overwhelmed by the Thought of Playing Indiana Jones

One of the biggest rumors floating around the past few weeks has been that Guardians of the Galaxy and Jurassic World star Chris Pratt is being sought to pick up the whip and play Indiana Jones in a reboot of the classic franchise. Speaking with MTV on The Oscars red carpet, Pratt was asked if there was anything had come of the talks and if taking on the series is an overwhelming prospect.

“It’s all nothing until it’s something and so far it’s not something….I don’t think it’s overwhelming to contemplate….It’d be cool. No one’s called me. (There’s) A lot of talk about it. The pressure would come just because it’s such a great franchise you wouldn’t want to get it wrong, so for me it would have to be perfect to do it. We’ll see, like I said it’s nothing until it’s something.”

A report popped up last week saying franchise co-creator Steven Spielberg hoped to direct Pratt in a reboot of the franchise, though it’s still early days for the project. Following the sale of Lucasfilm to Walt Disney Pictures and Lucas’ own subsequent retirement, however, hints regarding plans for the future of the franchise have been few and far between. Ford, however, has suggested that he’s quite eager to reprise the role himself, despite turning 73 this year.

The “Indiana Jones” franchise has brought in nearly $2 billion at the global box office, and has spawned countless novels, toys, games, theme park attractions, and the prequel TV series ” The Young Indiana Jones Chronicles.”
