Marion Cotillard Joining Assassin’s Creed in Unspecified Role

Deadline is reporting that Oscar-winning actress Marion Cotillard has signed on to join the film in an undisclosed role, which will not only reunite her with Fassbender from their upcoming adaptation of Shakespeare’s Macbeth, but also with that film’s director, Australia’s Justin Kurzel.

Like Fassbender, her role will span multiple movies within the franchise if the first movie does well, and it continues her run of big-budget action movies following her role as Talia in Christopher Nolan’s The Dark Knight Rises

Production will begin on the collaborative project between Ubisoft and New Regency Pictures this fall in time to make 20th Century Fox’s release date of December 21, 2016. Frank Marshall, Arnon Milchan, Jean-Julien Baronnet, Conor McCaughan, Fassbender and Pat Crowley are producing from a the script by Bill Collage, Adam Cooper and Michael Lesslie.

The article also mentions that Regency and Ubisoft are trying to get a Splinter Cell movie going with Doug Liman (Edge of Tomorrow) directing and starring Tom Hardy.

Cotillard will be at the Oscars a week from Sunday, having been nominated for her role in Two Days, One Night, so maybe someone on the red carpet will try to get more information about her role in Assassin’s Creed out of her then.
