Charlie Hunnam to Headline The Lost City of Z

Charlie Hunnam (Pacific Rim, “Sons of Anarchy”) has taken a leading role in director James Gray’s The Lost City of Z opposite previously-announced stars Sienna Miller (Foxcatcher, G.I. Joe: The Rise of Cobra) and Robert Pattinson (Rover, The Twilight Saga). He’ll play Col. Percival Fawcett in the adaptation of author David Grann’s best-selling book.

The Lost City of Z follows Hunnam’s Fawcett, a British colonial who disappeared in the 1920s while searching for a mythical city in the Amazon jungles of Brazil that he believed he discovered on a prior expedition.

Hunnam is currently in production on the Warner Bros. epic Knights of the Round Table: King Arthur from director Guy Ritchie, in which he plays the title role. He will next be seen in Guillermo del Toro’s Crimson Peak and the sequel to Legendary’s Pacific Rim. Hunnam recently wrapped his starring role as Jax Teller in FX’s Sons of Anarchy, the highest rated drama in the network’s 20 year history.

MICA Entertainment has come on board to finance the film with Brad Pitt, Dede Gardner and Jeremy Kleiner producing via Plan B Entertainment along with Dale Johnson and Anthony Katagas. Marc Butan is executive producing as are MICA Entertainment’s Julie B. May and Glenn Murray. Sierra/Affinity is continuing international sales of the title at this year’s European Film Market. CAA represents the domestic rights to the film.

Production on the film is slated to commence during the summer of 2015.
