Kristen Stewart has signed on to star in Summit Entertainment’s thriller-romance Twilight, based on Stephenie Meyer’s young-adult novel.
Catherine Hardwicke will direct the film, which centers on a 17-year-old girl who moves to a small town to live with her father and becomes drawn to a mysterious classmate who seems determined to push her away. Their unorthodox romance puts her in danger when his nemesis comes to town.
Melissa Rosenberg adapted the screenplay. Shooting is scheduled to begin in February 2008.
