The hour-long pilot for a potential half-hour series will center around the titular crew members of a hugely successful rock and roll tour. While not the movie star he once was, Luke Wilson has worked steadily including a lead role on HBO’s “Enlightened” and as NFL commissioner Roger Goodell in the upcoming NFL concussion drama starring Will Smith. Poots was recently seen in That Awkward Moment and next year has Terrence Malick’s Knight of Cups as well as the lead role in Peter Bogdanovich’s She’s Funny That Way opposite Wilson’s brother Owen.
Crowe and his Vinyl Films will executive produce the pilot with showrunner Winnie Holzman (“My So-Called Life”), along with Bad Robot’s J. J. Abrams and Bryan Burk (“Lost”).
