Golden Globe nominee Jeff Daniels (The Squid and the Whale), Neal McDonough (Minority Report), Archie Panjabi (A Mighty Heart), Alyy Kahn (A Mighty Heart) and Said Taghmaoui (The Kite Runner) have joined Academy Award nominee Don Cheadle (Crash) and Guy Pearce (Memento) in Overture Films’ espionage thriller Traitor, which begins filming September 10th in Toronto, the studio announced today.
Jeffrey Nachmanoff (writer of The Day After Tomorrow) will direct his own script which follows rogue operative Samir Horn, played by Cheadle, who is aiding terrorists to carry out acts against the West; however, it’s unclear where the man’s loyalties lie.
Daniels and McDonough play CIA and FBI agents, respectively, who are involved in the hunt for Horn. Panjabi plays Horn’s fiance, and Said and Kahn are members of the terrorist group involved in Horn’s renegade plots.
Overture Films is financing the picture and will distribute domestically. Paramount Vantage International will handle international sales on the film and will introduce the film to buyers at the 2007 Toronto International Film Festival. The film is produced by David Hoberman, Todd Lieberman, Don Cheadle, and Jeffrey Silver. Executive producers are Ashok Amritraj, Steve Martin, Arlene Gibbs, and Kay Liberman.
