Fans across social media are not happy about the idea of Oldboy 2 being in development.
What are fans saying about Oldboy 2?
Noted insider Daniel Richtman (also known as DanielRPK) sent fans into a frenzy this week when he posted on social media that Oldboy 2 was in development. The insider didn’t specify anything else beyond that, but it was enough to make fans unhappy.
Fans on social media quickly reacted in confusion and ire. To many, the original 2003 film from Park Chan-wook is a masterpiece and should be left alone. Although some were excited at the thought, the consensus showed pessimism that a worthy sequel could be made.
Originally released in 2003, Oldboy is a South Korean action-thriller from Park Chan-wook, often cited as one of the greatest films of all time. The film follows the story of Oh Dae-su, a man who is imprisoned for 15 years without knowing his captors and then released into a story of conspiracy and revenge.

An American remake of the film was made in 2013 by Spike Lee. However, the film was largely panned, with many considering it a massive failure, and Lee even removed his signature “A Spike Lee Joint” credit due to his unhappiness with the film’s editing process.
