Producer Jerry Weintraub and director Andrew Fleming are moving forward on a sequel to this summer’s Nancy Drew, with Emma Roberts again set to star as the famous teenage sleuth.
The trio also announced that they are teaming on Rodeo Girl, another family-friendly Warner Bros. feature.
Fleming (The In-Laws, Dick) wrote and will direct Rodeo Girl. Roberts will play a debutante equestrian who falls for a cowboy and tries to win him over by entering a rodeo competition.
Based on characters created by Carolyn Keene, Nancy Drew follows Nancy (Roberts) as she accompanies her father, Carson Drew (Tate Donovan), to Los Angeles on one of his business trips and stumbles across evidence about a long-unsolved crime involving the mysterious death of a beautiful movie star. Nancy’s resourcefulness and personal responsibility are put to the test when she finds herself in the middle of the fast-living, self-indulgent world of Hollywood.
The movie hits theaters on June 15.
