Adam Sandler to Star in Zohan

Columbia Pictures is in the process of acquiring Judd Apatow (The 40-Year-Old Virgin), Robert Smigel (creator of Triumph the Insult Comic Dog) and Adam Sandler’s script You Don’t Mess With the Zohan, with Sandler attached to star, says The Hollywood Reporter.

The comedy, developed at Revolution Studios from an original screenplay by Apatow, Smigel and Sandler, follows the exploits of a Mossad agent who fakes his death so he can anonymously move to New York and become a hair stylist. Smigel is penning a rewrite.

Shooting will begin in the summer in Los Angeles and New York for a summer 2008 release. Happy Madison will produce.

Sandler (Click) next appears in Reign Over Me on March 23 and the comedy I Now Pronounce You Chuck and Larry on July 20.
