Scarlett Johansson is set to headline Jurassic World 4, the next film in the Jurassic Park franchise. Johansson recently explained how her fandom impacted her decision to join the dinosaur adventure.
Judging by her comments, the new Jurassic World is a passion project for Johansson. The Black Widow star revealed she was willing to do whatever it takes to be in a Jurassic blockbuster.
“I’m an enormous Jurassic Park fan,” Johansson said in an interview with Comicbook.com. “It’s one of the first films I remember seeing in the theater. I remember seeing it so vividly. It was like life-changing. It was mind-blowing. I cannot express how excited I am.”
“I’ve been trying to get into this franchise in any possible way for over 10 years,” Johansson added. “I’m like, ‘I’ll die in the first five minutes! I can get eaten by whatever! I’ll do the craft service!’ I’ll do anything for it. The fact that it’s happened in this way at this time just is actually unbelievable. I can’t believe it.”
What to Expect in Jurassic World 4?
Johansson headlines a Jurassic World 4 cast that includes Jonathan Bailey, Manuel Garcia-Rulfo, Rupert Friend, Luna Blaise, David Iacono, and Mahershala Ali.
Plot details remain under wraps. However, the film has been described as “a completely fresh take launching a new Jurassic era, following three adults and three teens getting stuck on the Island.” No legacy characters from previous installments are expected to appear in Jurassic World 4.
Gareth Edwards is directing the new Jurassic World film from a screenplay by David Koepp, the scribe who penned Jurassic Park and The Lost World: Jurassic Park. Frank Marshall and Patrick Crowley will produce.
Filming is underway. No title has been announced. However, the film has been called Jurassic World 4 and Jurassic City. Jurassic World 4 arrives in theaters on July 2, 2025.
