A new poster and original song have been released for Trap, the upcoming psychological thriller from M. Night Shyamalan, which arrives in theaters nationwide on August 9, 2024.
On his social media accounts, Shyamalan revealed the new poster for Trap, starring Josh Hartnett, with the caption, “Take your seats. The show is about to begin.” The social media post also included information on how to listen to “Release,” an original song by Saleka Shyamalan as Lady Raven.
What to Expect in Trap?
The official logline reads: “A father and teen daughter attend a pop concert, where they realize they’re at the center of a dark and sinister event.”
Hartnett plays the father who brings his daughter (Ariel Donoghue) to a concert for rising pop star Lady Raven (Saleka Shyamalan). When Harnett’s character heads to the bathroom, he notices a huge police presence at the concert. He learns that the police are looking for a serial killer known as “The Butcher.” The twist: Harnett’s character is the serial killer.
On collaborating with Shymalan, Harnett said, “Working with M. Night was one of the best experiences of my career. I think he’s a true Artist, in the capital A sense of the word.”
Trap’s ensemble also features Hayley Mills and Allison Pill.
Trap is written and directed by Shyamalan, his first film with Warner Bros. since 2006’s Lady in the Water. Shyamalan’s last five films — Knock at the Cabin, Old, Glass, Split, and The Visit — were released by Universal Pictures.
Producers include Shyamalan, Ashwin Rajan, and Marc Bienstock. Steven Schneider is listed as an executive producer.
