Glen Powell continues to see his star rise in Hollywood, and following the success of the romantic comedy film Anyone But You, Deadline is reporting that he’s set to star in the upcoming thriller Huntington.
The film, which has been in development since last year, comes from John Patton Ford, the writer and director of the drama film Emily The Criminal. Deadline notes that the original screenplay for the film is inspired by the 1949 Ealing Comedy film Kind Hearts and Coronets, which starred Alec Guinness.
However, the report notes that Huntington will skew “darker than the original caper classic but leans into witty and zingy banter.”
A24 reportedly in talks to distribute the film domestically
European studio Studiocanal and Blueprint are set to produce the film, which Deadline reports is close to finalizing a domestic deal with A24 to distribute the film, although nothing is confirmed as of now.
Powell has seen a meteoric rise to superstardom following his appearance in 2022’s Top Gun: Maverick. After that role, Powell starred in the aforementioned Anyone But You and is also set to star in Richard Linklater’s newest action comedy film Hit Man, which arrives on Netflix later this year. The actor is also set to star in the upcoming sequel to Twister, Twisters.
