Those who missed the 2023 rerelease of Stop Making Sense still have plenty of time to see it in a theater.
Announced in a tweet posted by A24, the Talking Heads concert movie Stop Making Sense is returning to select cities in the United States, Canada, and the United Kingdom on January 27, 2024, in honor of the film’s 40th anniversary.
A24 also announced these screenings will be an opportunity for Talking Heads fans to score special merchandise and pre-order a 4k Blu-ray of Stop Making Sense, though a date for the physical media release has not yet been disclosed.

Cities where Stop Making Sense will be playing in later this month, per Variety, include Atlanta, Austin, Boston, Chicago, London, Los Angeles, Milwaukee, New York, Portland, San Francisco, Seattle, Toronto, and more. Tickets can be purchased by clicking here.
Widely considered to be one of the best concert films ever made, Stop Making Sense was shot over four nights at Hollywood’s Pantages Theater in 1983. Directed by Jonathan Demme, the movie was originally released in 1984 and featured performances of notable Talking Heads songs such as “Psycho Killer,” “Burning Down the House,” “This Must Be the Place,” and more.
A24 acquired the worldwide distribution rights to Stop Making Sense in March 2023. A restored version of the concert film was released in theaters and IMAX in September 2023.
On January 10, 2024, A24 also announced a Stop Making Sense tribute album will be released later this year. The album will see 16 different artists perform covers of the Stop Making Sense setlist. So far, Paramore, who will perform “Burning Down the House,” is the only band that has been announced to be part of the album.
Stop Making Sense returns to theaters in select cities on January 27, 2024.
