Neon Hosts immaculate
Immaculate was first announced back in November and is directed by Michael Mohan (The Voyeurs). Immaculate follows Cecilia (Sweeney), a woman of devout faith who is offered a fulfilling new role at an illustrious Italian convent. Her warm welcome to the picture-perfect Italian countryside is soon interrupted as it becomes clearer to Cecilia that her new home harbors some dark and horrifying secrets.
Immaculate is written by Andrew Lobel. Alongside Sweeney, the film also stars Simona Tabasco (The White Lotus), Alvaro Morte (Money Heist), Benedetta Porcaroli (Baby), and Dora Romano (The Hand of God).
Sydney Sweeney (Under the Silver Lake, Once Upon a Time…In Hollywood) developed the project alongside Middle Child Pictures’ David Bernad. In addition to Sweeney and Bernad, producers included Jonathan Davino for Sweeney’s Fifty-Fifty Films, plus Teddy Schwarzman and Michael Heimler for Black Bear. Executive producers are Black Bear’s John Friedberg and Christopher Casanova, alongside Will Greenfield.
Sweeney has previous in horror, starring in John Carpenter’s last feature-length film The Ward, Prime Video horror Nocturne, and Netflix vampire romp Night Teeth. Her current projects include Madame Web, Sony’s upcoming film set in the Spider-Man world that stars Dakota Johnson and is set for a 2024 release. She was also recently confirmed to star in the upcoming Barbarella remake, as well as an adaptation of The Registration from Sony Pictures.
There is no set release date for Immaculate at this time.
