According to Film Ratings, A24‘s upcoming surrealist comedy Dream Scenario has officially been given an R-rating by the MPAA for “language, violence and some sexual content.”
The film will be led by Oscar winner Nicolas Cage as Paul Matthews, a professor who becomes famous after appearing in everyone’s dreams. This marks Cage’s first project with A24 and producer Ari Aster.
What to expect in Dream Scenario?
“A hapless family man Paul Matthews (Cage) finds his life turned upside down when millions of strangers suddenly start seeing him in their dreams,” the official synopsis reads. “But when his nighttime appearances take a nightmarish turn, Paul is forced to navigate his newfound stardom.”
Dream Scenario is written and directed by Kristoffer Borgli (Sick of Myself). Joining Cage are Julianne Nicholson (Mare of Easttown), Michael Cera (Barbie), Tim Meadows (The Ladies Man), Dylan Gelula (Shithouse, Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt), Dylan Baker (Trick ‘r Treat), Kate Berlant (Sorry to Bother You), Noah Centineo (Black Adam), Nicholas Braun (Succession), and Amber Midthunder (Prey, Legion).
The film is also produced by Cage, Lars Knudsen, Tyler Campellone, and Jacob Jaffke. It had its premiere earlier this month at the Toronto International Film Festival, where it received positive reviews from critics.
Dream Scenario will arrive in theaters on November 10.
