At Fast X’s Rome world premiere, series star Vin Diesel teased the possibility of Fast & Furious 12, saying the studio wants three final movies rather than two.
Will there be a Fast & Furious 12?
At the premiere, Diesel stated that the studio asked for a three-part finale rather than the previously set two-parter — Fast X and the eleventh Fast & Furious movie — after watching the new installment.
“Going into making this movie, the studio asked if this could be a two-parter,” Diesel said (via Variety). “And after the studio saw this one, they said, ‘Could you make Fast X the finale, a trilogy?’”
When asked if he was confirming Fast & Furious 12, Diesel ended the discussion by saying, “You’re gonna get me in trouble here.”
“Over many missions and against impossible odds, Dom Toretto (Vin Diesel) and his family have outsmarted, out-nerved and outdriven every foe in their path,” reads Fast X’s synopsis. “Now, they confront the most lethal opponent they’ve ever faced: A terrifying threat emerging from the shadows of the past who’s fueled by blood revenge and who is determined to shatter this family and destroy everything — and everyone — that Dom loves, forever.”
Fast X stars Vin Diesel, Tyrese Gibson, Michelle Rodriguez, Jordana Brewster, Ludacris, Nathalie Emmanuel, Sung Kang, John Cena, Jason Statham, and Scott Eastwood, who reprise their respective roles in the film. The tenth installment also features the additions of franchise newcomers Jason Momoa, Daniela Melchior, Brie Larson, and Alan Ritchson.
The movie is directed by Transporter director Louis Leterrier, who will also return for the series’ final installment. The film is written by Lin and Dan Mazeau, with Lin still attached as a producer.
