When Jonathan Majors appeared as He Who Remains in the Disney+ series Loki, fans immediately celebrated that a great actor had joined the Marvel Cinematic Universe. According to Marvel Studios head Kevin Feige, he was just as thrilled.
Speaking to Marvel.com at the recent Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania premiere, Feige praised Majors, calling him “a versatile actor” that deserves the praise and acclaim he’s gotten in his career already.
“We were casting that role for both Loki, He Who Remains, and Quantumania. And obviously, he shot He Who Remains first, and then [Ant-Man]. But you can see already, if viewers who saw him in Loki, saw him in the trailer for Quantumania, he is such a versatile actor,” Feige said. “He’s getting a lot of great acclaim in numerous movies coming out around this time. And we’ve already … I almost gave you a big spoiler, but we’ve got lots of plans ahead for him, in a great way.”
Feige’s near slip-up is likely a reference to how Majors will almost certainly appear in future MCU projects. With Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania set to kick off Phase 5 of the MCU and Majors’ Kang the Conqueror acting as the newest “big bad” villain, it remains to be seen in just how many projects he’ll appear in. However, if Thanos is any indication, Kang may be popping up in one or two other films in the future.
Ant-Man and The Wasp: Quantumania is once again being directed by Peyton Reed from a screenplay written by Jeff Loveness, and is slated to premiere on February 17, 2023.
