Huey Lewis once sang, “I want a new drug, one that won’t make me sick,” which is a sentiment no doubt shared by Ashley Green’s character in the new thriller Urge, which The Hollywood Reporter announced she will co-headline with former James Bond actor Pierce Brosnan.
Urge centers on a young woman named Theresa (Greene) who tries a new designer drug while vacationing on a destination island with friends. The only problem with the drug, created by Brosnan’s character, is that it renders people unable to control their urges, some of which we presume will involve sex and/or violence.
Noted producer Aaron Kaufman (Machete, Chef) will make his directorial debut on Urge, which is produced by Skip Williamson (Underworld) and Mark Neveldine (Crank) and will begin shooting in New York later this month.
Best known for playing Alice Cullen in “The Twilight Saga,” Greene can soon be seen in Joe Dante’s horror comedy Burying the Ex, which premiered in September at the Venice Film Festival. Brosnan recently had a modest hit with action pic The November Man and will next be seen opposite Owen Wilson and Lake Bell in The Coup.
