Patrick Wilson (The Conjuring, Insidious) is set to star opposite Kurt Russell in Caliber Medias Bone Tomahawk. Matthew Fox (Alex Cross, World War Z) is also joining the cast that includes Richard Jenkins (The Cabin in the Woods).
Bone Tomahawk is a violent Western flick with horror elements that is written and directed by S. Craig Zahler.
In the film, four men attempt to rescue a group of captives from a band of cannibalistic troglodytes that live beyond the edge of civilization.
Wilson will play Arthur ODwyer, a driven and thoughtful cowboy whose rise to the foreman position of a cattle outfit is interrupted by an unfortunate accident that reshapes his life in unforeseen ways. Fox will play John Brooder, the eloquent, albeit inscrutable gentleman whose dark inclinations have put him and his polished weapons at the very edge of the western frontier.
Caliber Media partners Dallas Sonnier and Jack Heller will produce and arranged the majority of the financing through a deal with The Fyzz Facilitys Wayne Marc Godfrey, Robert Jones and David Gilbery, who will serve as Executive Producers.
Zahler is a novelist and screenwriter by trade. His crime novel “Mean Business on North Ganson Street” will be published next week by St. Martins Press, and is already being developed into a film at Warner Bros with Leonardo DiCaprio attached to star and produce. Zahlers debut western novel, “A Congregation of Jackals” was nominated for both the Peacemaker and the Spur award, and was followed by his critically acclaimed horror western, “Wraiths of the Broken Land.”
