TheWrap reports that Casino Royale and Green Lantern helmer Martin Campbell is eyeing the director’s chair on Relativity Media’s Hunter Killer. Phillip Noyce, Antoine Fuqua and McG were previously said to be attached to direct.
Based on the novel “Firing Point” by Don Keith and George Wallace, Hunter Killer follows an untested submarine captain who must work with a Navy SEAL team to rescue the Russian president, who has been taken prisoner during a military coup, in an effort to stop a rogue Russian General from igniting World War III.
Hunter Killer will be produced by Toby Jaffe and Neal Mortiz with Tucker Tooley executive producing.
