In Thor: Love and Thunder, Russell Crowe appears in a cameo role as Zeus. However, earlier ideas for his role in the film might have seen him playing a much more nefarious role.

In a recent post on Instagram, concept artist, illustrator, and makeup FX sculptor Miles Teves shared concept art of what Crowe would look like as Satan. According to Teves, Australian art studio Odd Studio commissioned various art for Crowe as Satan due to the possibility of him appearing in the role. Of course, things didn’t turn out that way, but the photos of Crowe appearing as Satan are still an interesting piece of trivia from the film.

In one of the images, Crowe’s Satan can be seen seated upon a throne of what looks to be flesh, with screaming mouths all over the throne. Behind him rages a fire while Crowe’s devil holds leg with a bite taken out of it in his hand. In another, Crowe can be seen reclining on a stone chair, still holding a leg in his hand but with a much more relaxed and debauched look, similar to that of his Zeus in the final film. Finally, a standard devil creature was shared, with the creature once again reclining in a chair with a ball of fire covering his groin.
