Warner Bros. Pictures has, according to a story at Deadline, set Will Staples (King of Heists) to write their upcoming drama about animal poaching and trafficking. First announced in 2012, the producers on the film include actors Leonardo DiCaprio, Tom Hardy and Tobey Maguire, all of whom will potentially take roles in the final film.
Previously likened to Steven Soderbergh’s Traffic, the idea is said to have originated with Hardy and is based on some friends’ actual experiences fighting animal trading on an international scale.
Staples began his career writing for video games like Need for Speed and Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3. He also recently signed on to write Paramount Pictures’ Mission: Impossible 5.
