Rogen’s character is currently unknown, but the actor will join Bill Murray and Aziz Ansari, who also wrote the script and is producing the film alongside Youree Henley. The film will be based on the Atul Gawande non-fiction book Being Mortal: Medicine and What Matters in the End. The book deals with topics including end-of-life care and how medicine has changed over time.
Rogen hasn’t appeared in a film since 2020’s An American Pickle, but has been keeping busy. The actor starred in Hulu’s Pam & Tommy and will star in the untitled Mario film as Donkey Kong, as well as Chip ‘n Dale: Rescue Rangers, which will see the actor lend his voice as Bob, a motion capture Viking dwarf. Rogen will also star in Steven Spielberg’s upcoming film The Fabelmans, which is said to be loosely based on Spielberg’s childhood growing up in post-war Arizona.

For Ansari, this will be his first return to a major acting role since his time on Netflix’s Master of None, a show he co-created and which earned him two Emmy Awards for outstanding writing in a comedy series. For Murray, this will be his latest appearance following his 2021 roles in Wes Anderson’s The French Dispatch and Jason Reitman’s Ghostbusters: Afterlife. Murray is also set to make his debut in the Marvel Cinematic Universe in the upcoming Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania.
