Samuel L. Jackson is negotiating to replace the formerly-attached Jamie Foxx in Screen Gems’ The Black Phantom. First announced back in 2009, The Black Phantom also has Kevin Hart set to headline with Tim Story (Fantastic Four, Ride Along) directing.
In the film, which has been scripted by Megan Hinds and Dave Lease, a double-crossed mob hitman turns for help to an unlikely source: the title character, another hitman who was hired to kill him.
Jackson starred earlier this year in Reasonable Doubt opposite Dominic Cooper and in the rebooted RoboCop before reprising his role as the Marvel Cinematic Universe’s Nick Fury in Captain America: The Winter Soldier.
Will Gluck and Will Packer will produce The Black Phantom with Clint Culpepper overseeing for Screen Gems.
