Heat 2 sequel trailer

Heat 2 Trailer Dates Sequel to Michael Mann’s 1995 Film

Director Michael Mann has dated Heat 2, a follow-up novel to the hit film that starred Al Pacino, Robert De Niro, Tom Sizemore, Jon Voight, and Val Kilmer.

The follow-up to Heat will arrive later this year in August and is co-written by Meg Gardiner and Mann. Heat 2 will serve as both a prequel and sequel as it will feature stories that occur in both 1989 and 2002 with its cast of characters. The 1995 action film was Pacino and De Niro’s first on-screen appearance together and Heat quickly became a fan favorite grossing 187.4 million at the box office.

“Master criminal Neil McCauley (Robert De Niro) is trying to control the rogue actions of one of his men, while also planning one last big heist before retiring,” said the synopsis of the original film. “Meanwhile, Lieutenant Hanna (Al Pacino) attempts to track down McCauley as he deals with the chaos in his own life, including the infidelity of his wife (Diane Venora) and the mental health of his stepdaughter (Natalie Portman). McCauley and Hanna discover a mutual respect, even as they try to thwart each other’s plans.”

While Heat 2 will initially just be a novel, Mann has been open about wanting to do a live-action adaptation as either a film or a television series.
