Paramount Pictures is, according to Deadline, close to securing distribution rights for Martin Scorsese’s latest, Silence, which is set to star Andrew Garfield, Ken Watanabe and Liam Neeson.
Based on the Shusaku Endo novel (adapted for the screen by Jay Cocks), Silence is set in the 17th century and follows two Jesuit priests as they face violence and persecution when they travel to Japan to locate their mentor and to spread the gospel of Christianity.
Although nothing has been officially locked as of yet, Paramount is said to be targeting a November 2015 release for Silence with the hopes that it will become a serious awards contender.
