With “Mad Men” coming to an end in 2015, we’re going to see a lot of that show’s actors moving further back into feature film territory as they become more available. Elisabeth Moss, for instance, has joined the cast of High-Rise, Ben Wheatley’s new thriller.
Screen Daily reports she recently signed up alongside Luke Evans, who will soon be seen in Dracula Untold, and “The Following’s” James Purefoy.
Tom Hiddleston, Jeremy Irons and Sienna Miller were locked into the film over the last few months. Reece Shearsmith, Peter Ferdinando and Dan Renton also star.
Wheatley previous helmed films like Kill List, Sightseers and A Field in England. His body of work so far combined with the fact that he’s adapting a J.G. Ballard novel should get you very excited.
Here’s a previously-released plot synopsis from SD:
The film centres on a new residential tower built on the eve of Margaret Thatchers rise to power, at the site of what will soon become the worlds financial hub. Designed as a luxurious solution to the problems of the city, it is a world apart.
Enter Robert Laing (Hiddleston), a young doctor seduced by the high-rise and its creator, the visionary architect Anthony Royal (Irons). Laing discovers a world of complex loyalties, and also strikes up a relationship with Royals devoted aide Charlotte (Miller).
But rot has set in beneath the flawless surface. Sensing discord amongst the tenants, Laing meets Wilder, a charismatic provocateur bent on inciting the situation. Wilder initiates Laing into the hidden life of the high-rise and Laing is shocked at what he sees. As the residents break into tribal factions, Laing finds himself in the middle of mounting violence. Violence that he also finds emerging in himself.
