More Details on Harrison Ford’s Star Wars: Episode VII Set Injury

Last week, it was revealed that Han Solo himself Harrison Ford was injured on the set of Star Wars: Episode VII after a door fell on him during shooting of a sequence. At the time it was reported that Ford had injured his ankle during the incident, but the BBC has confirmed with Ford’s publicist that Ford actually broke his left leg.

“His surgery was successful and he will begin rehab shortly,” the publicist said in a statement. “He’s doing well and looks forward to returning to work.”

A report earlier this week indicated that Ford will miss eight weeks of production on the film, though it won’t affect the release of the highly-anticipated film.

Ford joins the returning Carrie Fisher, Mark Hamill, Anthony Daniels, Peter Mayhew and Kenny Baker for the new film alongside new additions John Boyega, Daisy Ridley, Adam Driver, Oscar Isaac, Andy Serkis, Domhnall Gleeson, Lupita Nyong’o, Gwendoline Christie and Max von Sydow.

Star Wars: Episode VII is being directed by J.J. Abrams from a script he co-wrote with Lawrence Kasdan. It will open in wide release on December 18, 2015.
