Warning: Potential spoilers for Guardians of the Galaxy.
Last week, it was revealed that actor Josh Brolin had been cast in the role of Thanos in Marvelâs Guardians of the Galaxy. Since the characterâs debut at the end of Marvelâs The Avengers in 2012, weâve known the mad titan would be a presence in the larger Marvel Cinematic Universe and that he would appear in some capacity in this summerâs âGuardians,â but to what extent remained a mystery. Now, Vulture reports they have learned how weâll be seeing the big man in the film, so weâre going to issue a spoiler warning for the time being.
Vulture claims that Thanos will appear in the first act of Guardians of the Galaxy, albeit as a hologram and not in person. Heâll continue to appear this way for much of the film and is reportedly referenced by other characters throughout, though he does have one scene where he appears in the flesh, sharing the screen with Lee Paceâs Ronan the Accuser and Karen Gillanâs Nebula. So it seems that once again Thanos will be the puppeteer, waiting in the shadows for his big debut, which presumably will come during The Avengers 3.
Written and directed by James Gunn, the film also stars Chris Pratt, Zoe Saldana, Djimon Hounsou, Benicio del Toro, John C. Reilly, Glenn Close, Gregg Henry, Bradley Cooper, Michael Rooker and Vin Diesel.â Guardians of the Galaxy will hit theaters on August 1.
