Although Edge of Tomorrow”s Doug Liman was said to be up for the job earlier this year, Deadline is now reporting that Training Day and Olympus Has Fallen director Antoine Fuqua will direct 20th Century Fox’s Narco-Sub, the action thriller that was, some years back, planned for the now late Tony Scott to helm.
Scripted by David Guggeneheim, Narco-Sub explores the real-world drug-running submersible vehicles that are used to transport narcotics (particularly from Colombia to Mexico). Because of their compact size, the subs are able to elude radar.
Fuqua’s next, The Equalizer, is targeted to hit theaters September 26, 2014.
