It was revealed earlier this month that Attack the Block star John Boyega is among the acting contenders up for a leading role in J.J. Abrams’ Star Wars: Episode VII. Now, The Hollywood Reporter‘s Borys Kit has revealed, via Twitter, that Boyega is also being eyed for Terminator: Genesis in the role of the son of Miles Dyson, the Cyberdyne engineer largely responsible for the birth of Skynet. With both projects entering production shortly, Boyega can’t appear in both, but it remains to be seen which film will ultimately claim the young star.
Joe Morton played Dyson in Terminator 2: Judgement Day, with the character later appearing, played by Phil Morris, on the television series “Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles.”
The first in a stand-alone trilogy, the new Terminator will also star Jason Clarke, Emilia Clarke, Jai Courtney and J.K. Simmons. David Ellison will produce with Laeta Kalorgridis (Avatar, Shutter Island) and Patrick Lussier (Drive Angry) attached to write the screenplay. Thor: The Dark World‘s Alan Taylor is directing, targeting a July 1, 2015 release.
