Sam Worthington and Robin Wright to Scale Everest

Following the announcement of the film’s new release date, Universal Pictures’ Everest has added Sam Worthington and Robin Wright to its cast. Deadline has the news, reporting that the actors will join the already-attached Jason Clarke, Josh Brolin, John Hawkes, Jake Gyllenhaal, Martin Henderson, Emily Watson, Michael Kelly and Thomas M. Wright.

Inspired by the incredible events surrounding an attempt to reach the summit of the world’s highest mountain, Everest documents the awe-inspiring journey of two different expeditions challenged beyond their limits by one of the fiercest snowstorms ever encountered by mankind. Their mettle tested by the harshest elements found on the planet, the climbers will face nearly impossible obstacles as a lifelong obsession becomes a breathtaking struggle for survival.

Worthington, who can be seen in theaters this week in David Ayer’s Sabotage, will play real-life mountaineer Guy Cotter with Wright starring as Margaret “Peach” Weathers, the wife of Josh Brolin’s Beck Weathers.

Everest hits theaters September 18, 2015.
