According to Variety, multi-award-winning singer/actress Queen Latifah has officially signed on to star in Netflix’s upcoming thriller film titled End of the Road, which follows a family as they get stuck in the desert while a killer targets them. This marks Latifah’s latest collaboration with Netflix, who have previously worked together on Ryan Murphy’s Hollywood limited series and in the upcoming new Adam Sandler movie titled Hustle.

End of the Road will center around recently widowed Brenda, who drives her family cross-country to start a new life after losing her job. While isolated in the desert in New Mexico, the family must learn to fight back when they become targeted by a mysterious killer.
The film will be directed by Millicent Shelton from a screenplay being written by David Loughery (The Intruder, Obsessed) which was based on Christopher Moore’s original script. This project will feature the directorial debut of Shelton after years of directing TV episodes for popular shows such as 30 Rock and The Walking Dead.

On top of starring, Latifah will also serve as an executive producer along with Shakim Compere through their Flavor Unit Entertainment banner. It will be produced by Tracey Edmonds, Twisted Pictures’ Mark Burg, and Brad Kaplan.
Latifah’s notable film credits include The Bone Collector, Chicago, Bringing Down the House, Stranger than Fiction, Last Holiday, Hairspray, and the blockbuster and critically-acclaimed comedy Girls Trip with Chicago earning her an Oscar nomination for Best Supporting Actress.
