Anybody up for more Killer Klowns From Outer Space? Well, according to the Chiodo Brothers, who directed the 1988 cult horror film and are busy making the rounds for their latest flick, Alien Xmas, which is currently streaming on Netflix, there’s a good possibility we’ll be getting a sequel. Just not anytime soon.
“Look, MGM controls ‘Killer Klowns,'” Stephen Chiodo told ComicBook.com. “If [fans] write MGM and say, ‘Where’s our sequel? Where’s that property?’ There’s so many ways they can exploit this thing. It’s really the fan base… We have tons of ideas to really carry that through… So there’ll be hopefully something in the future.”

Apparently, the duo are currently talking to Netflix about a sequel. Unfortunately, these things take time.
“We are talking to them. We’re talking all the time. Get this: we’ve been trying to do a sequel since we made the film and fans get angry with us. We don’t mention it too much, because they get angry. They say, ‘Oh, what’s the matter with you guys?’ But we’re trying. The business is just a bear, moves at a glacial pace. There’s interest, and it wanes and flows. You get some executives who really want to do it, then, all of a sudden, musical chairs. They’re out, a new regime is in, and they don’t get it. We’ll see how Alien Xmas does with the Netflix people. We’ll see if they can embrace our sensibility.”

Killer Klowns From Outer Space is a satiric horror story about aliens who invade Earth disguised as clowns. The film stars Grant Cramer, Suzanne Snyder, John Allen Nelson and John Vernon. The film is regarded as a cult classic thanks to its terrific blend of kills and sly humor. It currently holds a 75% fresh rating on Rotten Tomatoes.
The Chiodo Brothers are also famous for their stop motion and make-up effects on such cult favs as the Critters franchise, Pee-Wee’s Big Adventure, Freaked, Elf and Team America: World Police.
