The album contains cover versions of classic Doo-Wop songs of iconic artists whose stories are showcased in the lauded documentary performed by Straight No Chaser, Koryn Hawthorne, La La Brooks and more. From The Drifters to The Platters and Little Anthony & The Imperials, the music is beloved by millions and the film dives into the backgrounds of the artists to shine a light on the stories that few know. Utilizing all-new interviews with stars such as Brian Wilson, Lance Bass and Brian McKnight, along with HD restored archival footage, the film explores the history and social impact of this timeless era.
The film features the unmistakable falsetto leads, lilting harmonies and deep backing vocals set to a bluesy street corner rhythm that created those unmistakable sounds — “Stand by Me” covered by Straight No Chaser, La La Brooks, Charlie Thomas and Vito Picone, “Tears On My Pillow (Little Anthony & The Imperials), “Why Do Fools Fall in Love” (The Teenagers) and more — all an endless jukebox of melodies and memories. No other genre of music can conjure up the innocence of a nation, or the pangs of love quite like the timeless sounds of Doo-Wop. An entertaining journey through bands, songs and harmonies that evoke both days gone by as well as current hits, Streetlight Harmonies uncovers a definitive period of music and the artists that defined it. Millions know the music but few know the artists and their history that laid the foundation for rock and roll, rhythm and blues, and built a bridge to The Civil Rights movement.

“What an honor it was to re-create iconic songs like ‘Stand By Me’ and ‘Up on the Roof’ for Streetlight Harmonies,” Seggie Isho of chart-topping a cappella group Straight No Chaser said in a statement. “Doo Wop music played a pivotal role in American pop culture and changed the course of American music, and its effects can be heard in nearly every genre of popular music today. We’re thrilled to be a part of this project, as the film sheds light on the lesser-known stories in the history of American music.”
