There was a report that hit last month which suggested The Amityville Horror: The Lost Tapes, the long-mooted Amityville project over at Dimension Films and Blumhouse Productions was dead. Not the case, however.
Producer Jason Blum spoke to CraveOnline about that subject and he had this to say: “Nope. Still going, still going, still going, still going. Were going to make that movie and its very cool. But I dont quite know yet when.”
Now, there’s no telling what form The Amityville Horror: The Lost Tapes is in now, but when it was first announced, this was the plot synopsis: An ambitious female television news intern, on the verge of breaking the most famous haunted house case in the world, leads a team of journalists, clergymen and paranormal researchers into an investigation of the bizarre events that will come to be known as The Amityville Horror, only to unwittingly open a door to the unreal that she may never be able to close.
The project may have evolved beyond this, however. We’ll keep you posted.
On another note, Blum revealed he’s working on a new genre television series…
There’s something which I’m very proud of which I’ve been working on in a while, and we’re going to start shooting in about two months. Sadly, I can’t tell you what it is. Next time we talk we’ll be shooting it. And there’s another series that we shot a pilot. Catherine Hardwicke did a pilot for us. It’s called “Eye Candy” that Victorica Justice starred in, which also, depending on if they pick it up or not, they haven’t weighed in, could become our series. They haven’t weighed in yet on whether or not they’re going to pick it up but the pilot is finished and I’m really proud of it. So between that and the one that we’re shooting we’re going to shoot multiple episodes we’re going to have something on the air very soon.
