Harrison Ford Talks About His Rise of Skywalker Cameo

In a recent interview with USA Today to promote his upcoming adventure Call of the Wild, which hits theaters this week, Harrison Ford opened up about that surprise cameo appearance in Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker.

“When JJ asked me to do it, I said, ‘Are you kidding? I’m dead!'” Ford explained. “He said, ‘Sorta dead. You can do this.’ He hadn’t written anything at that time. But he said, ‘This is going to be great.’ So I said okay. If JJ asked you do something, you’d probably do it too. He’s a very persuasive guy.”

Ford obviously relented, and for good reason.

“It was a useful addition to the story and the continuing development of Adam Driver’s character. And the chance to do another scene with Adam was great.”

The scene in question featured Han Solo sharing a quiet moment with his son, Ben Solo, aka Kylo Ren … except, Han was killed by Ben in The Force Awakens, which led many fans to speculate he was a force ghost. Naturally, Ford responded the only way Ford could.

“A Force ghost? I don’t know what a Force ghost is,” the veteran actor said, before whispering, “Don’t tell anyone. I’m not talking loud enough for your recorder. I have no (expletive) idea what a Force ghost is. And I don’t care!”

Never change, Mr. Ford.
