According to Variety, a WeWork drama feature is in the works from Blumhouse and Universal Pictures, focusing on the rise and crash of the shared-workplace startup and its founder Adam Neumann.
The project is being adapted from Katrina Brooker’s reporting on the intertwined lives and ambitions of Neumann and SoftBank CEO Masayoshi Son. Brooker, who is a senior contributing writer for Fast Company, also has a book coming out about the company following her in-depth interviews and written stories that will be published by W.W. Norton.

WeWork pulled the plug on an initial public offering in September after investors raised questions against its mounting losses. In October, the company accepted a bailout from SoftBank.
The movie will be written by Oscar-winner Charles Randolph (The Big Short, Bombshell, Love & Other Drugs) who will also produce.

Blumhouse will produce the project. The company recently produced the Showtime limited series The Loudest Voice about Roger Ailes starring Russell Crowe, Sienna Miller, Naomi Watts, Seth MacFarlane, and Annabelle Wallis via Blulmhouse Television. Their upcoming slate also includes Black Christmas, Fantasy Island, The Invisible Man, film and TV adaptations of The Stolen Kids of Sarah Lawrence, The Craft, Halloween Kills, and Halloween Ends.
