Mark Millar’s Kindergarten Heroes Heads to the Big Screen

Mark Millar and Curtis Tiegs’ planned children’s book Kindergarten Heroes is, according to Deadline, on its way to the big screen through 20th Century Fox. Carter Blanchard (Glimmer) has signed on to provide the screenplay.

First announced in 2012, Kindergarten Heroes is the Kick-Ass creator’s foray into family-friendly fare. At this time, however, the book has not yet announced a firm publication date.

“Kindergarten Heroes is my first children’s book,” Millar posted on his Twitter feed, “and is co-owned 50/50 by the brilliant Curtis Tiegs, whom I met on the Millarworld boards.

Simon Kinberg, whose screenwriting credits include the upcoming X-Men: Days of Future Past, is attached to produce with Steve Asbell executive producing. There’s no word yet on whether the film will go the live-action or animation route, but studio’s hope is to use Kindergarten Heroes to launch a franchise.
