Deadline brings word that Sam Richardson (Veep) has joined the cast of Chris Pratt’s sci-fi thriller Ghost Draft from Skydance and Paramount.

Ghost Draft follows a man drafted to fight in a future war where the fate of humanity relies on his ability to confront his past. The movie is directed by Emmy winner Chris McKay (Robot Chicken, The Lego Batman Movie) and written by Zach Dean (Deadfall, 24 Hours to Live).
The cast also includes Yvonne Strahovski (The Handmaid’s Tale), with Emmy nominee Betty Gilpin (GLOW) and Oscar-winner J.K. Simmons (Whiplash) both in talks to star as well.
David Ellison, Dana Goldberg, Don Granger, David S. Goyer, Jules Daly, and Adam Kolbrenner are producing. Matt Grimm will oversee for Skydance. Skydance is financing the project with Paramount on board to distribute. Ghost Draft is expected to begin production this summer.

Richardson can currently be seen on the big screen in the raunchy comedy Good Boys, starring Jacob Tremblay and produced by Seth Rogen and Evan Goldberg. Besides starring as Richard Splett in the Golden Globe-nominated and Emmy-winning series Veep, his previous credits also include Human Discoveries, Rise of the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, Ralph Breaks the Internet, Detroiters, and We’re the Millers. His upcoming projects include Superintelligence, Promising Young Woman, and Bailey & Darla.
