Academy Award winner Holly Hunter (Thirteen, The Piano) has signed on to star in David Gordon Greens drama, Manglehorn, financed and produced by Worldview Entertainment. Hunter will play the female lead character opposite Academy Award winner, Al Pacino, in the title role. Chris Messina (Argo) and Harmony Korine (Spring Breakers) will also star. Green will direct the film, which is based on a screenplay by Paul Logan.
Worldviews Maria Cestone and Sarah E. Johnson will executive produce alongside Todd Labarowski, Brad Coolidge and Melissa Coolidge for Dreambridge Films, which is making an investment in the film. Jody Hill and Danny McBride will executive produce for Rough House. CAA arranged financing for the film and is representing domestic rights while WestEnd Films is handling international sales.
This is the second collaboration between Worldview Entertainment, WestEnd Films and Dreambridge Films with Green and his production team, following the drama, Joe, starring Academy Award winner Nicolas Cage, which made its world premiere in competition at the 2013 Venice Film Festival and is making its North American debut as a Special Presentation at the 2013 Toronto International Film Festival.
Holly, Chris and Harmony add a tremendous amount of prestige and talent to this project and we are delighted to have them join Al to bring Davids unique story to life, said Worldview COO, Molly Conners.
Worldview CEO, Christopher Woodrow, and COO, Molly Conners, will produce alongside Lisa Muskat, Derrick Tseng and Green. Principal photography will commence this fall in Austin, Texas.
