42 star Chadwick Boseman is set to play the lead in The Help director Tate Taylor’s untitled James Brown biopic, Variety reports.
Jez and John-Henry Butterworth are providing the screenplay for the film which begins with Brown’s impoverished childhood in South Carolina and follows through his rise to international stardom. Brian Grazer, Mick Jagger and Erica Huggins are attached to produce.
Boseman can be seen coming up in Ivan Reitman’s sports comedy Draft Day. The Summit Entertainment release is also set to star Kevin Costner, Jennifer Garner, Denis Leary, Ellen Burstyn, Sean Combs, Terry Crews, Chi McBride and Frank Langella.
Brian Grazer, Mick Jagger and Erica Huggins are attached to produce the Brown biopic.
