Hilary Swank Joins Universal’s Political Thriller The Hunt

Deadline reports that Academy Award-winning actress Hilary Swank (Million Dollar Baby) has signed on to join the cast of Universal Pictures’ forthcoming political thriller The Hunt. Further details on the plot and Swank’s character are still being kept under wraps. The film is scheduled to hit theaters on September 27.

Swank will be joining previously announced cast members Ike Barinholtz (The Oath, Blockers), Betty Gilpin (GLOW, Stuber), Emma Roberts (Nancy Drew, The Art of Getting By), Justin Hartley (This Is Us), Glenn Howerton (It’s Always Sunny in Philadephia), and Amy Madigan (The Last Full Measure).

There’s still no official word on the film’s plot, but The Hunt is said to explore the escalating aggressiveness between the political right and left in modern-day America.The script comes from Damon Lindelof (WatchmenThe Leftovers), Nick Cuse, with Craig Zobel (Compliance) directing, who’d previously worked with Lindelof when he helmed some episodes of The Leftovers.

Universal execs Erik Baiers, Jay Polidoro, and Mika Pryce will oversee the project on behalf of the studio. The film is produced by Jason Blum and Lindelof, via his White Rabbit banner. Cuse and Zobel will serve as executive producers.

Hilary Swank is multi-award winning actress who have achieved numerous awards which includes two Oscars and two Golden Globe Awards for her critically-acclaimed performances in the movies Boys Don’t Cry and Million Dollar Baby. Her other notable film credits include: The Next Karate Kid, Insomnia, The Core, Freedom Writers, The Reaping, P.S. I Love You, Amelia, and Logan Lucky.
