Sam Claflin Joins Millie Bobby Brown and Henry Cavill in Enola Holmes

According to Deadline, Sam Claflin (The Hunger Games) has signed on for Legendary Pictures’ Enola Holmes. The actor will be joining Millie Bobby Brown (Stranger Things) and Henry Cavill (Justice League, The Witcher, Mission: Impossible – Fallout) in the film, based on YA author Nancy Springer’s Enola Holmes Mysteries novel series.

Claflin is best known for his portrayal of Finnick Odair in The Hunger Games series, and can be seen later this year in The Nightingale and the Charlie’s Angels reboot.

Per previous reports, Cavill is taking on the role of Sherlock Holmes in the movie. Oscar nominee Helena Bonham Carter (King’s Speech) is also starring in the project as the matriarch of the Holmes family.

The Edgar Award-nominated YA book series kicked off in 2006 with The Case of the Missing Marquess and spans six installments centering on Sherlock and Mycroft Holmes’ teenage sister as she strikes out as a capable detective. The film will be directed by Harry Bradbeer with Jack Thorne set to pen the screenplay. Brown will also be serving as producer, alongside her sister Paige Brown, for the Enola Holmes franchise through their PCMA Productions, with Alex Garcia and Ali Mendes overseeing the project for Legendary.

Sherlock Holmes’ own younger years were previously speculated on in Barry Levinson’s 1985 fantasy Young Sherlock Holmes, which was written by Chris Columbus and produced by Steven Spielberg.
