Filming on Fast and Furious 9 has officially commenced, and, like any project where Vin Diesel is involved, he’s taken to Instagram to celebrate another milestone in the long-running film franchise.
“Wow, wow, wow, wow, wow, wow, wow,” Diesel began. “Can you believe it? We just completed our first day. It feels like a miracle — one hard-earned, but we’re just so grateful. We’re grateful to you, Universal, we’re grateful for our whole team, incredible crew and incredible cast. Most importantly, we’re so grateful to you, world, that has adapted this franchise. And… can you believe it?“
“I can, actually,” added Michelle Rodriguez, who stood beside her co-star throughout the video.
“It’s so awesome, and we’re so blessed, and we love you so much,” Diesel said in conclusion.

While the upcoming ninth film in the franchise won’t feature Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson, as he’s busy with first spinoff, Hobbs & Shaw, this one will feature John Cena. So, call it an even trade.
Fast and Furious 9 was originally set to hit theaters on April 19, but was pushed back a year to make room for the first spin-off in the series, Hobbs & Shaw, which is now scheduled to hit theaters on August 2. As a result, Fast and Furious 9 will be getting a May 22, 2020 release with Justin Lin returning to directing in the franchise, after helming Fast and Furious parts 3 through 6. Dan Casey will pen the screenplay from a story by Lin.
Production on Fast and Furious 9 is (obviously) now underway.
