Joel Edgerton Eyes Role in Ridley Scott’s Exodus

Ridley Scott is eyeing Joel Edgerton to play the part of the Egyptian pharaoh Ramses in his upcoming biblical tale Exodus. The Hollywood Reporter brings word that the The Great Gatsby star would appear opposite Christian Bale in the leading role of Moses.

The 20th Century Fox film features a script by Steve Zallian, Adam Cooper and Bill Collage that follows the story of Moses leading the Israelites out of Egypt into the Sinai desert and eventually to their Promised Land.

Edgerton, who also recently starred in Kathryn Bigelow’s Zero Dark Thirty, can be seen coming up in Matthew Saville’s Felony, Gavin O’Connor’s Jane Got a Gun and Jeff Nichols’ Midnight Special.

Exodus is slated to hit theaters on December 12, 2014.
