Deadline reports that rapper-actor Colson Baker (Nerve), known as Machine Gun Kelly, has officially signed on to join the cast of director Judd Apatow’s forthcoming untitled comedy starring SNL cast member Pete Davidson. This project will mark the second collaboration between Baker and Davidson, who both starred in the indie comedy Big Time Adolescence.
Baker’s film credits include: Nerve, Viral, The Land, Bird Box, Captive State and The Dirt. He will next be seen in Netflix’s Untitled Henry & Rel Sci-Fi Project co-starring alongside Jamie Foxx and Joseph Gordon-Levitt.

Davidson wrote the script to the film along with Apatow and Dave Sirus, which is described in the report “as a semi-autobiographical story of Davidson growing up in Staten Island, New York.” The young actor lost his father in 9/11, an event that that obviously had a vital impact on his life. At age 16 he jumped into stand up and used “stark, truthful” language on sensitive topics, including the loss of his father.
The cast includes Pete Davidson (Set It Up), Oscar winner Marisa Tomei (My Cousin Vinny, Spider-Man: Far From Home), Maude Apatow (Assassination Nation, Euphoria), Pamela Adlon (Bumblebee, Better Things), Bill Burr and Bel Powley.
Apatow may not have directed a big screen feature since 2015, but he has kept busy with projects such as the 30 for 30 documentary Doc & Darryl, the documentary May It Last: A Portrait of the Avett Brothers, along with TV shows Crashing, Love and The Zen Diaries of Garry Shandling. Barry Mendel (Funny People) will produce alongside Apatow through his Apatow Productions banner. Universal’s Senior Executive Vice President Erik Baiers will oversee the project for the studion.

Davidson joined SNL when he was just 20 years old, and has since appeared in numerous TV shows including Brooklyn Nine-Nine and The Jim Gaffigan Show. He also had a bit part in the aforementioned Trainwreck, and has earned critical raves for his performance in the comedy Big Time Adolescence.
The untitled comedy is set to hit theaters on June 19, 2020.
